Tanto in Koshirae(NBTHK Hozon Token)
Signature: Mumei( attributed as Jumyo) Shinshinto
The blade was polished.
Blade length : 17.4 cm or 6.85 inches.
Mekugi : 1
Width at the hamachi : 2.46 cm or 0.96
inches.
Kasane : 0.53 cm or 0.20 inches.
Era : Late Edo period.
Shape : The blade is unusual Syobu zukuri style.
Jitetsu :Koitame hada well grained with jinie attach.
Hamon : Niedeki sanbonsugi gunome midare. Sunagashi and Kinsui work in the blade.
Special feature : From the Jigane and Hamon, the blade was made at late Edo period.
This is Mumei sword which attributed as Jumyo. Jumyo was a famous brand, because
people said it will make life extended.
Jumyo was treated as gift for happy events like birthdays, promotion gifts and others for
Daimyo and Samurai
with the meaning that life will be longer. Jyumyo swords had been welcomed by Samurais for this reason.
The shape is unusual and nice shape which is called Syobu zukuri style.
Koshirae : All matching golden and silver dragon and clouds.
Tsuba : On the syakudo nanako plate, dragon is engraved with gold color.
Fuchikashira : On the silver plate, doragon and clouds are engraved.
Saya : On the black roiro saya, a dragon is painted by gold and red color.
Menuki : A dragon is engraved by silver.
Kozuka : On the syakudo nanako plate, a dragon is engraved with gold color.
